Confucius said: "You! If a man is not upright, he cannot be firmly established. If he does not know how to be circumspect, he cannot be firmly established. If he does not know how to die, he cannot be firmly established. If he does not know how to be a decoy, he cannot be firmly established. Why this is so?"
子路闻之，不踊。子曰：“为之，蚌在釜，其始薰，其臭如也。日月蚀之，地震雷霆，若虎生翼。”

When Zilu heard this, he was uncertain. Confucius said: "In a small clam in a cauldron, it starts to stew, and the smell is such. The sun and the moon would be overshadowed, and the earth would quake with thunders, as if a tiger is now spreading its wings."
